The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition provided public comments to inform Wisconsin Election Commissioners (WEC) at their June 10th meeting. Barbara Beckert spoke on behalf of the WDVC and shared recommendations for the August 11 and November 3 election including the public health imperative to promote absentee voting while still providing accessible in-person voting options, the need for Wisconsin to develop an accessible ADA compliant absentee ballot, suggestions for addressing the accessibility concerns experienced by voters in the April election, a recommendation for the WEC to work with DHS to develop a plan to provide access to voting for residents of nursing homes and other residential “care” facilities.
