Thank you, Wisconsin Municipal Clerks

The 54th Annual Municipal Clerks Week is April 30 – May 6, 2023. Municipal clerks play a key role in administering our elections and upholding voting rights. To recognize Municipal Clerks Week, the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition (WDVC) has invited voters to submit a nomination recognizing the work their clerk does to make elections accessible and inclusive. Submissions recognizing Wisconsin Clerks are being posted on our website and Facebook page. Nominations may be submitted at this link.

The WDVC thanks Wisconsin clerks for their hard work to welcome every voter equally and be sensitive to the dignity and rights of voters with disabilities. We applaud their efforts to make elections accessible to those with disabilities by ensuring the right to assistance with any aspect of voting, offering voters the use of accessible voting machines, positioning machines for privacy and accessibility, setting up curbside voting, and supporting absentee voting, including the right of disabled voters to ballot return assistance.

In addition, the Disability Vote Coalition recognizes outgoing Wisconsin Election Commissioner Julie Glancey for her outstanding service. A former Sheboygan County Clerk, she was first appointed to the WEC in 2016 and has served with great distinction. Commissioner Glancy announced her resignation from the Commission on April 28, 2023.

As one of the two clerk members of the Commission, Commissioner Glancey brought her frontline perspective as a former county clerk. During her tenure, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring that all eligible Wisconsinites can vote, including voters with disabilities, and those who live in care facilities. She has also been sensitive to the needs of non-drivers.

Thank you, Commissioner Glancey, for your dedicated service as a clerk and as a Commissioner and your work to support Wisconsin election administration.

The Disability Vote Coalition is pleased to recognize the important work of Wisconsin municipal clerks.  We look forward to working with Wisconsin clerks to advance the accessibility of Wisconsin elections and to ensure the rights of voters with disabilities.
